As a licensed professional counselor I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Akron. Prior to my time in this field, I have a background working with adolescents as a high school math teacher, an experience that inspired me to turn towards focusing on helping young adults navigate the complexities and challenges of growing up: identity, self-esteem, relationships, and more.
I have experience working with anxiety, depression, ADHD, relationship issues, and life transitions; utilizing various therapeutic modalities such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectal Behavior Therapy), and mindfulness-based interventions. Additionally, I have a niche focus on OCD populations, with specialized training in ERP (Exposure Response Therapy), as well EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) for trauma. While I gladly serve a variety of populations, I enjoy working with older adolescents, young adults, and millennials.
As a therapist, my role is not to provide a quick fix to life’s challenges, but to provide clients with the tools, skills, and autonomy to manage whatever life throws at them. My goal is to provide a space where clients can be open and authentically themselves, and help guide them towards being their best selves.
Fun fact: I’m a multi-instrumentalist, and enjoy playing everything from piano to banjo to drums; but my first love has always been the guitar.
